A Lost Angel

A Lost Angel
Ellis Parker Butler

When first we met she seemed so white
I feared her;
As one might near a spirit bright
I neared her;
An angel pure from heaven above
I dreamed her,
And far too good for human love
I deemed her.
A spirit free from mortal taint
I thought her,
And incense as unto a saint
I brought her.

Well, incense burning did not seem
To please her,
And insolence I feared she’d deem
To squeeze her;
Nor did I dare for that same why
To kiss her,
Lest, shocked, she’d cause my eager eye
To miss her.
I sickened thinking of some way
To win her,
When lo! she asked me, one fine day,
To dinner!

Twas thus that made of common flesh
I found her,
And in a mortal lover’s mesh
I wound her.
Embraces, kisses, loving looks
I gave her,
And buying bon-bons, flowers and books,
I save her;
For her few honest, human taints
I love her,
Nor would I change for all the saints
Above her
Those eyes, that little face, that so
Endear her,
And all the human joy I know
When near her;
And I am glad, when to my breast
I press her,
She’s just a woman, like the rest,
God bless her!

J33 New Car

"If you could have any car you wanted, which car would you choose? Would it be practical or flashy?"
Definitely flashy! Silver, with lots of chrome. What?? A silver Mustang convertible, that's what i'm talking about =) The more flashy, and tricked out the better! i've never actually ridden in a convertible with the top down ='( but i'm pretty sure i'd like it. i just love the sleek, streamlined look of this car. Being practical is not something i want to be known for, and this car definitely shows that lol!

What car would you choose??

J32 Movie That Made You Cry

"What was the most recent movie that made you cry?"
Hmm... i'm not sure. i don't cry in movies very often. Prolly A Walk To Remember. It always makes me cry, but i like the movie. Go figure. The book is way better tho! Nicholas Sparks is epic! i cry when i watch any of his movies. Or read the books. Ah well, i guess its a girl thing ;)

"I told you not to fall in love with me."

J31 Torment

"If you could have anyone locked in a room so that you could torment them for a day, whom would you choose, and how would you torment them?"
Jared, and i would torment him by playing the Gummy Bear song over and over again. JK! Sorry, Jared, i couldn't resist.
Hmm... really? i can't think of anyone.... right now. One day, when Amber is like 19 or 20 i'd like to trap her in a room with a five year old just like her. That would make me very happy. *evil grin*
In case you can't tell, i'm more the "get even" than "forgive" type.

Who would you torment??

Snow!!

Wow! It's been snowing for two days here. It's supposed to get between 16-20 inches of snow, and at my last check it was at 14. That's a lot of snow. Definitely the most i've ever seen at one time!

i've heard it described as a "snowpocalypse". I'm not kidding!! i first heard it said by a librarian! That was surprising! i guess i have the stereotype of librarians being highly educated and a little stuffy. i saw "snowpocalypse" in several statuses on facebook, and there's even an event for it! Attendance is mandatory on this one, you don't really have a choice lol Whether you "attend" the event or not, you're gonna be there if ya live around here!!

I'll post pics later, but its really beautiful outside. The snow sparkles so much, it looks like a field of diamonds. i walked down to the mailbox (1/2 mile there and back) it was cold, but fun!

I'll be off work this week, and so will my dad so we're all stuck at home together.... joy. X) lol it'll be interesting anyway! So far we've done some baking, played games, and watched a movie, with minimal arguments. So i think we'll be ok.

I'll keep ya updated!!

Deaf, Dumb, Or Blind?

"Would you rather be deaf, dumb, or blind?"

Deaf is unable to hear, dumb is unable to speak, and blind is unable to see. My first reaction is dumb, I'd rather not talk than lose my sight or hearing, but the more i thought about it i realized i'd hate to not be able to talk to people (even if they might prefer that lol) or sing. That would really kill me, even if i don't sing where others can hear me, i love to sing. Its very hard for me to hear music and not sing along. To be able to hear music, and not be capable of singing? i wouldn't be able to stand that.
Then i thought about being deaf, that was an automatic No! Again, i couldn't stand not being around music, hearing it, feeling it. Its so incredible, i can't even imagine not experiencing music everyday. So that one was out.
Next was blind. My first reaction is no, because i love fabric, the feel, the color, i love creating things and i have to have my sight for that. But as much as i love the colors, the rush from seeing a finished project, i couldn't live without music. i just can't.
So i guess if i had to chose one, it would be blind. It'd be hard, but compared to the alternatives its the one I'd best be able to live with.

Help Me Understand

"God, i don't understand why? i know this is your will, i know this is best, but why? Why let this happen? i've said you do everything for a reason, why let something seem almost in reach, and then pull it away? i gave you a challenge: change my heart, show me that what i believe is wrong. You started that! My heart was changing, and now you're just gonna stop? What is this game?
Why did you let me get so close? What good did it do? Now I'm back where i started, but even more hurt, more alone. Because this time, i was ready to believe, i was ready to trust. i thought maybe... maybe it wasn't just a story. Maybe it could be real.
i know you have a plan, but can't you please show it to me? i don't understand God, i don't understand.
Please, God, give me faith. Show me your will. Help me to trust you, even if i don't know why. i need you, God, i need you even more now."

The Call

It started out as a feeling
Which then grew into a hope
Which then turned into a quiet thought
Which then turned into a quiet word

And then that word grew louder and louder
'Til it was a battle cry

I'll come back
When you call me
No need to say goodbye

Just because everything's changing
Doesn't mean it's never
Been this way before

All you can do is try to know
Who your friends are
As you head off to the war

Pick a star on the dark horizon
And follow the light

You'll come back
When it's over
No need to say good bye

Now we're back to the beginning
It's just a feeling and now one knows yet
But just because they can't feel it too
Doesn't mean that you have to forget

Let your memories grow stronger ans stronger
'Til they're before your eyes

You'll come back
When it's over
No need to say good bye

J30 Crickets

"Would you be willing to eat a bowl of live crickets for $40,000?"
Absolutely not. i have this thing about bugs. Mostly its that i hate them. With a passion. i absolutely could not eat even a dead, chocolate covered cricket, not even a small one. Ever. Not for a billion dollars. Not even if i was starving, i just couldn't do it. i hate almost all bugs. The only bugs that are even close to acceptable are lady bugs, butterflies, and dragonflies. That's it, and only on a good day. i'm telling ya, i have a thing about bugs.

Would you be willing? Why or why not?

A Stone, A Cross, A Veil

The stone table. The cross. The temple veil.

The Stone Table was a great slab of rock supported on four smaller rocks, located in central Narnia. It had symbols and characters carved into it, the White Witch claimed they described the rules of the Deep Magic from the Dawn of Time. During the White Witch's winter revolution, she bound Aslan to the stone table and executed him using her stone knife. Susan and Lucy spent that night keeping a vigil at the Table over Aslan's body. At dawn when they witnessed Aslan's resurrection, the Table split in two right down the middle. This may have been because the Deep Magic, inscribed in the Stone Table, was reversed by Aslan's sacrifice, according to the rules of the Deeper Magic from Before the Dawn of Time.

The cross was 2 beams of wood crossed at the middle, towards the top. It stood on a hill outside the city. Christ was killed by being nailed to the cross and left to die. When Christ died it atoned for all the sins of all the nations, from the dawn of time to the end of the earth. Only thru the blood payment of Christ can we ever hope to be welcomed into the kingdom of God.

The veil was what separated the Holy of Holies in the tabernacle from the priest and people that worshiped there. Only once a year, one man, the High Priest, could enter the Holy of Holies and make a sacrifice for all the sins of the nation. The Holy of Holies was where God dwelt. Of course, God is everywhere, and he can't be confined to a certian room, it was just a way for God to be nearer to us. The veil separaed God in all his glory and power from people. It was symbolic of the separation between man and God caused by sin. No one but the High Preist could enter.

Stone Table can be regarded as symbolizing the Mosaic law of the Old Testament. Just as Mosaic law, written on stone tablets, promised inflexible punishment for sin; so the Deep Magic written on the Stone Table said that for every treachery the Witch had the right to a kill. Just as Jesus transcended the rule of Mosaic law by dying on the Cross, allowing forgiveness of sins; so Aslan transcended the rule of the Deep Magic by dying on the Stone Table, allowing the forgiveness of Edmund's treachery. This is symbolized by the stone table cracking.

The cracking of the Stone Table into two pieces also is symbolic of tearing of the Veil of the Temple of Jerusalem. According to the Bible, the instant Jesus died, an earthquake occurred. Matthew 27:50-51 "And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice, and yielded up His spirit. And behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth shook and the rocks were split."

The Temple's Veil, which itself symbolized the separation of God and humans, was torn in two. The Veil would have been around 60 feet tall and 4 inches thick. This symbolized that Jesus successfully atoned for the sins of Mankind and that God and Man would no longer be separate, in the same way that Edmund no longer was separated from Aslan, His friendship, and those in communion with Aslan.

J29 Haunted

"What dead person would you least want to be haunted by?"

Someone boring. i mean, if you have to be haunted, you'd at least want it to be by someone interesting, right? Whats the point if it's gonna be by someone dull, then you'd hardly notice they were there. Or a goody-two shoes, that would be even worse! That'd be like being haunted by a second consience! No! i'd hate that. =|

What about you?

J28 Strange Food

"What is the strangest thing you’ve ever eaten?"
The stew i had on the rez. Definitely the stew. Mostly cause i have no idea what was in it. i didn't recognize some of the... vegetables. And i have no idea what the meat was; the whole thing had a kinda weird smell. i ate two bites and wished i hadn't.

My mom had some pretty disgusting things growing up, she grew up in the Philippines and they have some weird food there. One of the things she absolutely refused to eat (that's popular there) was a dish called balut. Here's the wikipedia definition:
A balut is a fertilized duck (or chicken) egg with a nearly-developed embryo inside that is boiled and eaten in the shell.
Popularly believed to be an aphrodisiac and considered a high-protein, hearty snack, balut are mostly sold by street vendors in the regions where they are available. It is commonly sold as street food in the Philippines.

Sounds disgusting, doesn't it? Of course, we eat hot dogs and all kinds of highly processed "meat product", i mean, what the hell is in "meat product"? That could be anything.

What's the strangest thing you've ever eaten?

As of 5/7/11 i've had both eel and squid. i didn't like the texture of the squid, but the eel was really good!
