In a way. i don't think kids should be given an unrealistic view of the world, but they shouldn't have to grow up to fast either. The world isn't all sunshine and flowers, but it isn't all doom and gloom like some adults make it seem either. Kids need balance. Kids shouldn't have to deal with adult problems, unfortunately they usually do. While my childhood wasn't nearly as bad as many other kid's, it wasn't ideal either. There were a lot of things i had to learn about, or experience before i was ready. Looking back, yea i had to grow up too fast, and in sometimes very difficult ways. But that's the past. i've tried to shelter my kids from those things, and while it hasn't always worked, i think mostly they've grown up slower, and didn't have to deal with adult stuff till they're ready. That's the best i can do.
