Corn Mazes and Pumpkin Carving

October is the month of corn mazes and pumpkin carving. Its also when it really starts to feel like fall. Fall is my favorite season, i love the changing colors, the cool wind, the chilly nights. Its all so relaxing for me. I was driving by a cemetery today, its an older one on the north side of town. There are a lot of really beautiful trees there, I love walking thru it in the spring. But the fall is best. Right now all the trees are changing colors, it’s a sea of gold, red, orange, yellow, and a dozen variations of those colors. Its spectacular and I was wishing I had a camera to capture the beauty of God’s creation. Tho no picture could do justice to the real sight. i'm going to try to take some photos on Friday, we'll have to see. i'll try to post some if i do. Anyway, back to the original topic:

Corn mazes combine three of my favorite things: Friends, the dark, and walking. And if its a haunted maze, there's also the fun of watching the other girls get scared =P i don't usually get scared in corn mazes, i can usually see the 'monsters' before they jump out, and its all a little slow paced for me. Now if i was at a haunted house, i think it would be different. i'd prolly be scared out of my mind, from what i've heard. It sounds very fast paced, with a lot of interaction with the 'ghosts'. i admit it: i'd be terrified. Which is why i'm dying (not literally) to go to one. i don't think i'll have time this year, i'm pretty much booked all weekend, but maybe next year.

Pumpkin Carving is (supposedly) fun. i've been to two carving parties and carved a few pumpkins at home and i don't see the draw... Of course this might have something to do with the company. Maybe if my friends and i carved pumpkins together i'd like it. But for now i dont'. Its messy, smells pretty bad, and really what do you get? A mangled pumpkin that will rot in a few weeks. i'm highly cynical, i know. What did those poor pumpkins ever do to me?? Well... nothing really. i just don't like them. However i love pumpkin pie...

Anyway, these are some of the reasons i like fall =) Why do you like fall??

  1. I love the cool breezes, the colorful leaves, the fact that I don't have to mow, and Pumpkin Pie!!! (There are other reasons, but these are the ones that popped into my mind first)

  3. Never liked carving pumpkins. Messy, boring business for something that few people will see and will eventually just rot, you know? lol
